Versatility and style are things I am always striving for. As good fortune would have it, the lariat necklace is back in style and I am in love.
Step 1: Begin by choosing a mold that is upright. That will help hold your leather in place while curing. Mix ICE Resin® according to package instructions.
Step 2: At this point you will add color if desired. I added Hacienda Ice Resin Tint. You could also use acrylic paint to color your resin.
Step 3: Gently drizzle resin in mold, being careful not to fill completely. Next cut 50 inches of Ice Resin leather cord. Dip one end in resin and try to center as best you can.
Step 4: You may want to have a mug or two handy just to lean the leather against to keep the leather in the center of the mold. Allow to dry overnight.
The next day carefully ease the resin from the mold.
Step 5: At the opposite end of the leather thread on beads. Mix another batch of Ice Resin. Add color if you choose.
Step 6: The ends of your lariat don’t have to match. Have fun with it! Drizzle resin in mold and repeat process for centering leather. Allow to dry overnight. After resin is dry remove from mold and allow to cure for three days.
Step 7: Now you can tie your lariat any way your heart desires.
