Materials:
Step 1: Using ICE Resin® Molding Putty, make molds of birthday candles following the instructions on the package.
Step 2: Working over a Studio Sheet, use ICE Resin® Plunger, Cups & Stir Sticks (following packaging instructions), to mix enough resin for the candles.
Step 3: Divide resin into several cups to make multiple colors of candles. Stir a few drops of each ICE Resin® Tint color into a different cup of resin. Stir gently to get an even color & pour into molds. Let cure.
Step 4: Pop resin out of molds and paint the spiral crevices on the resin candles with Vintaj® Patina in Marble. Let dry. Lightly sand raised area to smooth and get rid of extraneous paint if desired.
Step 5: Attach Jump Rings to End Caps for the resin candles.
Step 6: Cut the candles into graduated lengths. (As pictured in finished necklace photo.) Glue the ends of each resin candle into an End Cap with Leather Adhesive. Let dry. (Sand or carefully snip off excess on candle ends with scissors if needed to fit into End Caps.)
Step 7: Cut three Leather Cords to desired length. (Pictured necklace is 21”.) and soak them in water for 3-5 minutes, remove from water and apply a small amount of Micro Glaze™ to each piece, pull to straighten.
Step 8: Glue the ends of one side into an End Cap with a Jump Ring & a Hook attached. Let dry.
Step 9: String the Jump Ring of a short resin candle onto two strands of the Leather Cord. String a Jump Ring onto all three cords. String the Jump Ring of a slightly larger candle onto the same 2 cords that the first candle was strung on, then thread a Jump Ring on all three cords. Continue in this way until all the candles are threaded on. (As in the pictured necklace.)
Step 10: Glue an End Cap with a Jump Ring attached to the other ends of the Leather Cords. Let dry.
Step 11: Center the candles & Jump Rings on the necklace & wrap a short Jewelry Wire onto the cords on each side. (As pictured.)
TIP: You can also cut the resin candles short and link the candle charms together with Jump Rings to make bracelets or earrings. Embed them in resin in a bezel or coaster…. Have fun & let your imagination soar!
