Spring and Summer always make me think about butterflies. We have a backyard with a small creek and in the summer I can find many varieties of butterflies basking in the sunshine. Butterflies also remind me of resilience. What energy it must have taken to change from a lowly cocoon to a beautiful butterfly. I wanted to harness some of that resilience.
Step 1: Begin with Tim Holtz Idea-ology butterfly adornments. Use an ICE Resin paintbrush to apply a thin coat of Iced Enamels Medium to wings. Next sprinkle Iced Enamel over Medium. Make sure to have a paper underneath to catch any extra powder. Put this powder back in container for another use.
Step 2: Use Ranger Heat it Craft Tool to melt Iced Enamels. Set aside and allow to cool.
Step 3: While this is cooling, use a new Industrial Bezel template and cut a Luminous Layer to fit your chosen bezel.
Step 4: Mix ICE Resin® according to instructions. Use another small, disposable paintbrush to add a thin layer of ICE Resin to wings.
Step 5: Then add a light coat of resin to the bottom of the Luminous Layer. This will help keep it from floating in the resin. Press into the bottom of the bezel. Next, add a coordinating color of ICE Resin Opal to the resin.
Step 6: Gently put butterfly on top of the bezel and fill the bezel with the rest of the glittery resin. Allow to dry overnight. The next day you can determine if you would like to add a doming layer of resin. If you decide to add that doming layer, add resin and allow to cure for three days.
